"Aerospace Defense Command (Air Defense Command before 1968) was a Cold War
military organization established as one of the initial United States Air Forces
major commands. Activated in 1946 by the United States Army Air Force, its
mission was to organize and administer the integrated air defense system of the
Continental United States (CONUS), exercise direct control of all active
measures, and coordinate all passive means of air defense."

This U.S.
Military Command granted the "A" Award (although I'm not very sure what is the
rating system nor the regulations for the accolade). What I do know is that a
flag was issued for the specific Unit that was given this award.
